Blackburn Road is a historic building located within the heart of Accrington town centre and contained a number of self-contained apartments. Chapelgreen were appointed to provide general refurbishments to these apartments, which included new bathrooms, kitchens and associated finishes. New heating and lighting systems were installed along with upgraded fire and warden call systems.

The ground floor, which had previously been used as a bank, was also extensively but sympathetically modernised to provide a catering kitchen, café and associated offices and accessible toilet for local service users.

Externally the building was subjected to a full scaffold wrap so that extensive repairs could take place to both the high level stonework and the roof covering and a number of structural improvements. External decoration completed the works to the shell of the building.

The sensitive location of the site in a prominent town centre area posed a number of issues that needed careful planning by the site and senior management teams and the project was completed to satisfaction of both the residents and clients and the wider local residents.
